Rare Black Forest 'Rat Eater' Automton Clock
A fairly common animated figure in Black Forest German clocks is 'The Dumpling Eater'. The folks over at North Coast Imports shared this video of a rare variation. Rather than dumplings, the animated pirate figure on this clock is eating rats!

I wonder if it would be possible to hide the rat wire under the jacket of the pirate
Hello,
The figure on the top is actually Napoleon, he is dressed in military uniform...this was determined by the eagle on his hat…and other period paintings and lithos of the period. The Germans used their clocks to “poke fun” at other cultures… If anyone has any interest in other Automa or unique BF pieces… they can be seen at www.blackforestclocks.blogspot.com I am always adding to my collection…so if anyone out there has pieces of interest that they are considering selling… please contact me through the website.
Best, Justin
