It's got to be the most detailed I've seen about the materials and forming of gears, you could balance that with something like "Gear Geometry and Applied Theory" by Faydor L. Litvin and Alfonso Fuentes to become the ultimate gear guru. On the other end of the scale there's a link to a nice video on wire based gears from the workshopshed blog.
